We are off to Newfoundland so tag-along with us.

Kelligrews Soriee

Well we made it through the night all in one piece and the right side up. It was unbelievable! When daylight finally arrived we peaked outside to make sure we were still at the Blue Fin and no trailers had been tipped over. Door mats, buckets and whatever else that had been left outside had to be gathered up by our fellow campers.   It was still very windy in the morning, but had changed directions, so we were able to sit outside.  We visited with Nancy and Terry and 11:30 the 4 of us decided to go to Bidgoods a store in Goulds that sells traditional Newfie food and gift items.  We were arriving after lunch and there just happened to be an excellent fish and chip place right next store that our neighbours told us about.  Of course we had to sample the fish and chips at this place, and as expected they were excellent.  We took the scenic route home, stopping to view the waterfall at the Manuels river and showing them where my relatives lived.  We also went down to the water to see the huge waves breaking over the rocks. We certainly were all very glad that we had not been on the Argentia ferry last night, I’m sure that was one wild ride for everyone on board!  On the way home we stopped at the Kelligrews Soiree and listened to 2 bands play traditional Newfoundland music.  Shamrock was our favourite band and we would try and find their CD’s tomorrow. The four of us enjoyed the leftover codfish stew and then went down to the rec hall to visit with our fellow campers and talk about the day and of course the wild night.  We enjoy camping so much and have met so many wonderful people from all over the world, we our so fortunate.
