We are off to Newfoundland so tag-along with us.

Happy Canada Day from Newfoundland

Friday, July 1st 2011

Today started out to be a nice day, 16 degrees and sunny.  I was so excited about meeting my relatives I didn’t even take any pictures. I wanted to go down and take some pictures of where they lived.

The Manuels river runs behinds their house and has a waterfall and a 6 km walking trail along the banks.  I remembered having to go down a fairly steep path to get to the swimming hole at the river.  Climbing back up was horrendous, you usually had a tire tube to haul back up with you, but oh what fun we had.  Today they have a set of stairs built to get up and down to the hiking trail.  No one swims back there anymore.  The river has been damned so no longer is as wide as it was when we swam in it, and a lot of brush has grown on the banks.  But still brought back some great memories.
We take our time driving back to camp, stopping here and there as we usually do.  We were supposed to have fireworks and a huge campfire to celebrate Canada Day however the
fog rolled in and they decided to postpone until tomorrow night.
